Choral Arts Society

The New York University Choral Arts Society was formed in 1969 by E. Jon de Revere, as a consolidation of the University's Men's and Women's Glee Clubs, the Chapel Choir and the School of Education Chorus. Some of the highlights for the period between its inception and de Revere's Farewell Concert at Lincoln Center on May 17, 1986, at which the 130-voice ensemble performed Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with an orchestra comprised of members of the American Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestras are:

5 NBC-TV Specials Christmas at Rockefeller Center with Arthur Godfrey, Barbara Walters, Hal Linden, Leslie Uggams, Ben Vereen, Peter Allen, Maureen McGovern, Robert Merrill, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Kathleen Battle

4 concert tours to Florida, including a performance at Disney World Performance for Pope John II in the Vatican

Special performance in St. Peter's Basilica with members of the St. Cecilia Brass Choir of Rome for the Opening of Holy Year, Christmas Eve 1974 and participation in the Christmas Day Mass
